iPads: Possibilities for Teaching and Learning

Teaching and Learning with the iPad logo

Do you have an iPad or are you considering purchasing one? Are you wondering how you can use it in your teaching and learning? With more than 700,000 apps available, are you trying to decide which ones are best for you? If so, this workshop is for you!

The iPad offers endless possibilities for teaching and learning, and a faculty member's purpose in using an iPad is the most significant factor in determining how successful its use will be in the classroom.

This workshop will

  • provide hands on training on the educational uses of iPad, including setup, configuration, connecting to Xavier's wireless network, and getting email on your iPad.
  • provide an overview of educational apps for the iPad and their uses in teaching and learning.
  • provide links to resources where you can search for apps by discipline and get app reviews.
  • provide information on iPads so you can decide which one, if any, is right for you.

Janice Florent (CAT), Elizabeth Yost Hammer (CAT and Psychology), Bart Everson (CAT), Jason Todd (QEP), Gloria A. Thomas (Chemistry), Yamlak Tsega (ITC), and Vincent Simmons (ITC) will all be on hand to answer your questions about using iPads for teaching and learning.

Bring your iPad and leave with it setup and ready to go!
