Trauma-Informed Pedagogy: Follow-up Discussion
In our previous session, Dr. Stacy Overstreet provided a detailed description of trauma-informed pedagogy. We were introduced to the impacts of trauma, the biological adaption of trauma, and the six key principles of trauma-informed care. In addition to this, we were provided a framework to apply the key principles of trauma-informed systems to pedagogical approaches. Integrating the Six Key Principles of Trauma-Informed Care into classroom practices and institutional practices and policies is an effective way to promote healing and avoid re-traumatization.
