2011/2012 QEP Course Portfolio for BSAD 4000: Business Policy
by Dr. Richard Peters
In Business Policy or Strategy they prioritized idea is to examine the issues that face the firm, diagnose the root causes of these issues or challenges and then outline and detail suitable courses of actions to remedy these issues by minimizing or eliminating these problems. Throughout this process there is uncertainty, complexity and subjectivity. Because both businesses and their environments are dynamic, and because there are multiple ways to "skin" the proverbial cat students cannot often be given a right or wrong answer, even to most fundamental of inquiries. Therefore, in order to inspire and motivate students to critically think and engineer creativity I utilize a scratic approach that usually asks more questions than provides answers. I supplement this howeve3r with theory and conventional instruction but do so in a manner that analogizes theoretical underpinnings to common life themes that students are more familiar with.
