New Faculty Orientation

This day-long series of presentations and workshops is designed to welcome new faculty while providing them with tools, resources, and people-contacts to ensure a successful first year. Beginning with ''Pastries, Coffee, and Chat with the President'' at 8:30 a.m., the day concludes with a wrap-up question-and-answer session, 3:15-3:30. In between, new faculty will experience:
9:00-9:15: President's Welcome
9:15-11:00: Workshop/The Role of Immediacy in Enhancing Student Learning
Dr. Dominique Gendrin, Assistant Professor of Communications and Dr. Stephanie Thomson, Assistant Professor of Communications
This workshop will examine videotapes of Xavier professors in action. It will end with a panel discussion that will allow the new faculty to ask existing faculty questions about the teaching and learning culture at Xavier.
11:15-12:15: ''Making Your Life Easier: Resources for Teaching and Learning''
