Mentoring for Resilience

[P-MAX logo]

Today's climate of social isolation, academic pressures and social unrest can have long-term, negative effects on the students we teach and mentor. Consequently, supporting our mentees in developing their resilience skill set is now an essential part of our role as mentors. This involves helping our mentees to understand the mental and behavioral power they have to not only recover quickly from the stressors and challenges they face, but to ultimately position themselves in a more advantageous position. We will discuss ways to encourage our mentees to engage in behavioral and thought processes that help them to overcome the challenges they face and avoid the long-term negative outcomes that could result.
