IDPs and MMCs: Essential Tools for Mentee Success

Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and Mentor-Mentee Compacts (MMCs) provide a planning process that facilitate the identification of both professional development needs and career objectives for the mentee. They can serve as tools to help facilitate communication between mentees and their mentors, facilitate the development of goals and provide a structure for achieving those goals. They are written documents created by both the mentee and mentor that provide accountability and impetus to move toward achievement of goals. In this session, we will describe what IDPs and MMCs are and how to use them to promote mentee success, provide examples of each and provide the opportunity for participants to begin developing their own IDPs and MMCs.
